Twenties, Thirties, Forties : Staffordshire
Introduction
The Staffordshire group was our seventh area group and held its first event in January 2002, by going 10 pin bowling.Area co-ordinator:
Mairi Macleod
Here's what Mairi had to say about the Staffordshire Group: I’ve been involved with the Staffordshire [North Staffs] 20-30 group since it started lat 2001. We held our first event in January 2002 and have had regular events since then.
We are richly blessed in our geographical situation as we are on the doorstep of some beautiful countryside so try to take as many opportunities to get out and enjoy it as much as possible. Of course we also have the benefits of the city, with good theatres and many local taverns to sample as well. In fact some of us find ourselves out most Saturdays, in one of our many favourite pubs, enjoying a good chat.
The group is very lively and, as you will see form our choice of events; we like to be busy and try out different things. Whilst we haven’t grown hugely in numbers since we started we have got better organized, and have a very varied list of events scheduled for the rest of this year. We would love to see new people come along and they are always made to feel very welcome, as it is a genuinely friendly group. Also if there is something you would really like to see on our programme then let us know, we’re always open to new ideas!
As for me, well I’m the area co-ordinator but the rest of the group take an active involvement in the organisation of events as well. In my working life I work at the local University in the postgraduate office as a postgraduate administrator, which means I’m responsible for the paperwork relating to research students (cradle to grave as my boss likes to call it although we don’t like the grave part!). I’m also actively involved in my local church where I am on the PCC and currently secretary to the PCC. It keeps me out of mischief!
On behalf of the whole group we hope to hear from you and that you’ll join us at one of our forthcoming events.
